At the birth of our nation and its liberation from British tyranny, the first patriot intelligence network was created in the form of a secret Boston group called the "mechanics". In the words of perhaps the its most famous member, Paul Revere, the group was "formed for the purpose of watching British soldiers and gaining every intelligence on the movements of the Tories."
Of course, on the night of his famous ride to warn local patriots of the impending British march on Lexington and Concord, Revere employed the use of lanterns to convey whether the enemy was traveling by land (one lantern in the North Church) or by sea (two lanterns).

Paul LaFrance and Charlie Allieri came from two different ends of the technology spectrum. As a serial entrepreneur and technologist, Paul possesses the technology and start-up background. With a history of success as a sales and marketing executive, Charlie bring the sales, marketing, and operational experience. What they shared was one vision of how a company built on monitoring technology could revolutionize the business processes and effectiveness of any sales organization.
Paul has architected several success products and companies. Paul’s most recent previous endeavor was, Dirig Software, based in Nashua, New Hampshire, utilized monitoring technology to identify e-commerce transaction problems. Charlie, in the meantime, had been busy building sales and marketing organizations within companies such as NCR, AT&T, i2, SSA and Infor.
After 18 months of development, the two formed iLantern with the foundation applying the paradigm of Paul’s network and application monitoring expertise to monitoring organizations online and then automatically alerting salespeople to the changes within those organizations that reflect true selling opportunities.
